30 Oct 16:30 – 2 Nov 18:00
Av. Blas Infante, 41011 Sevilla
Four days and three nights in the Sierra de São Mamede, in the Portuguese Alto Alentejo, departing from Seville. We walk along A Raia, the border between Spain and Portugal, past castles, whitewashed villages and chestnut trees that turn colour in November.
From Friday 30 October to Monday 2 November, with transport, accommodation and full board included. The routes are suited to beginners: no experience needed.
We pedal where trains once ran. On Saturday we cover 15 km on a tandem bike along a former railway line and visit an Alentejo winery.
We climb to Marvão and the roof of the sierra. On Sunday we walk from Portagem to Marvão and its castle, with an afternoon in Castelo de Vide. On Monday we climb the summit of São Mamede, the highest peak south of the Tagus, with views into Spain and Portugal.
We sleep in a railway station. Train Spot Guest House is a converted former station, and the whole house is reserved for our group.
We eat well and unhurriedly. Daniel, guide, sommelier and cook, cooks for the group and pairs the dinners with Alentejo wines.
How to book: pay the full amount now (€550), or reserve with a deposit of €150 and pay the balance (€400) through a payment link we will send you before departure.
We leave Seville at 16:30 and arrive at Train Spot Guest House, a former railway station in Beira (Marvão). Shared dinner: each person brings something to share.
A 15 km circular ride on tandem bikes along the route trains once travelled. Winery visit and MyWay dinner prepared by Daniel.
Circular route from the natural swimming pool at Portagem up to Marvão and its castle, with a picnic along the way. Afternoon in Castelo de Vide and an Alentejo dinner.
Circular route to the summit (250–300 m of elevation gain), with views over Marvão, Castelo de Vide and Portalegre. Visit to Alegrete and, weather permitting, Alburquerque. Return to Seville.
Routes suitable for beginners: no experience needed.
Guided in Spanish.
Departure: Friday 30 October, 16:30, from the Parking del Metro de Blas Infante (Seville), in a 9-seat minibus (if the group is larger, in private cars).
Return: at the event's finish time (Monday 2 November).
MyWay may change the planned activities or routes for weather, safety or group organisation reasons. Booking means accepting the group dynamic and the organised, guided nature of the activity, with each person taking part voluntarily and at their own responsibility.
